AFA Wright Memorial Chapter Scholarships

Investing in the Next Generation of Air & Space Force Leaders

Each year, the Air & Space Forces Association Wright Memorial Chapter (AFA WMC) proudly supports the education and advancement of future Air and Space leaders through multiple scholarship programs. These scholarships recognize outstanding cadets and enlisted Airmen who demonstrate leadership, academic excellence, and a commitment to service. Through partnerships with local ROTC units, JROTC programs, the Civil Air Patrol, and the 88th Air Base Wing Education Office, AFA WMC awards a total of eight (8) $1,000 scholarships annually to deserving individuals pursuing academic and professional growth in support of our Air and Space Forces community.

AFROTC Scholarships

Four (4) $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually through AFROTC Detachment 643.
AFA WMC partners with Detachment 643 and participating universities to support scholarships for qualified cadets.
Cadets apply directly through the Detachment Commander in March each year.
Awards are presented at the ROTC Banquet held at the end of the academic year.

AFJROTC Scholarships

At least one (1) $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to deserving AFJROTC cadet from local high schools.
AFA WMC works closely with Senior Aerospace Science Instructors (SASIs) to identify and nominate exceptional cadets who demonstrate leadership, academic excellence, and community involvement.
Cadets submit applications to their respective SASIs in February of each year.
Award(s) is typically presented at each unit’s JROTC Awards Ceremony at the end of the school year.

Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Scholarships

One (1) $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a CAP cadet in the Dayton area who has demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership, and commitment to the Civil Air Patrol mission.
Nominations and applications are coordinated through local CAP units.
The scholarship is presented during the annual CAP awards event or other recognized cadet ceremonies.

Enlisted Education (Pitsenbarger) Scholarships

The AFA WMC proudly supports enlisted Airmen pursuing higher education through the local Pitsenbarger Scholarship Awards, administered in coordination with the 88th Air Base Wing (88ABW) Education Office.
Each year, two (2) $1,000 scholarships are awarded to deserving Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) graduates who demonstrate excellence in academic achievement, leadership, and professional growth.
The Base Education Office (BEO) oversees the application process—typically beginning in June—and distributes applications to the Scholarship Award Committee, on which AFA WMC serves as an active member. The committee evaluates and ranks submissions, then meets with the BEO to finalize award selections.
Awards are presented during the annual CCAF Graduation Ceremony at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, where AFA WMC representatives recognize each selectee with a certificate and scholarship check.

AFA National Scholarship Opportunities

In addition to the valuable scholarships offered through the Wright Memorial Chapter, the Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) National organization provides a wide range of scholarship opportunities for students pursuing higher education. These scholarships support eligible students who demonstrate strong academic achievement, leadership, and dedication to the Air and Space Forces community.

The AFA National Scholarships cover a variety of fields, including aerospace, engineering, science, technology, and leadership development. They are designed to help future Airmen and Guardians, as well as civilian students who share a passion for supporting our Air and Space Forces.
