STEM Program

The Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) Wright Memorial Chapter (WMC) proudly supports and facilitates partnerships with the K-12 educational community and increases student awareness and excitement in all fields of science, technology, engineering and math, as well as aviation and aerospace.

AFA WMC STEM Grant Program

The AFA WMC works with the Greater Dayton Area schools to support and advocate for their STEM programs.  We provide grants to either the school or individual teachers to support STEM – with a focus on socioeconomically disadvantaged schools, teachers, and students. Grant submissions may be made by the school directly to AFA WMC, or in response to our "STEM Grant Call" - normally distributed in October of every year. Presentations are typically made at the school, with ‘sponsor’ support as their time permits.

For more information, contact our VP of Education, Mr. Carl “Shof” Shofner, cshofner@afadaytonwright.org.

AFA National Grant Program

Every year, AFA awards $20,000 in grants to 40 educators poised to make a lasting difference. The grant process is competitive. A committee of aerospace education experts reviews all qualified applications and scores them based on their detailed grant proposals. AFA selects projects that best serve our nation’s students and support our mission. AFA Educator Grant applications are accepted from September 1 through December 15. Educator Grants are awarded in February.
