Lt Gen Bruce “Orville” Wright, past AFA President, shared an article authored by ‘War on the Rocks’ (a platform for analysis and debate on strategy, defense, and foreign affairs), titled “America Is Not Prepared for a Protracted War.” It highlights the need for a comprehensive U.S. plan to fight and win such a war should include four critical elements: mobilization, contested logistics, the limits of the defense-industrial base, and protecting the homeland during wartime.

For U.S. national security professionals this is a sobering, but essential read. As AFA professionals, this article and the issues and challenges behind it is “news we can use” in our advocate, educate, and support role.
